The Midge Dress is definitely a special one. A 60's shift dress in a stunning blue, purple, and yellow marbled material, it features a stunning back with a panel train embellished with oversized buttons and a bow. This dress was made in the UK by the brand "Horrockses". In perfect vintage condition.

Horrockses began in 1791 in Preston, UK, as a cotton manufacturer, and in 1946 the company launched Horrockses Fashions Limited, creating a clothing label that combined London-based design with cotton produced at its Preston mill, supplemented occasionally by fabrics from other makers. The brand became especially renowned in the 1950s for its vibrant floral cotton prints, which were crafted into full‑skirted summer dresses that gained popularity not only across Britain but also in upscale American stores such as B. Altman. Although these were cotton day dresses, they were well‑made, stylish, and far from inexpensive, helping elevate the reputation of cotton as a fashionable fabric. After the company’s leading designers departed in 1958, Horrockses was sold to Steinberg & Sons in 1964, and the label continued until it was discontinued in 1983.
